DESCRIPTION:June 22\, 2026 – July 8\, 2026\n6:00 pm to 10:00 pm \nMonday\, Tuesday & Wednesday \nThe Smog Check Inspector Level 2 Training is intended to provide students the knowledge\, skills\, and abilities needed to perform Smog Check inspections. \nStudents who successfully complete this training will have met the Bureau’s training requirements to qualify to take the Smog Check Inspector state licensing examination. \nTRAINING PREREQUISITE: \nPrior to taking the Smog Check Inspector Level 2 Training\, students must either satisfy BAR specified criteria\, as listed below\, or successfully complete the Level 1 Engine and Emission Controls Fundamentals Training. \nBAR specified requirements: Possess ASE A6\, A8 and L1 certification; or possess an AA/AS degree or Certificate in automotive technology and have 1 year experience; or have 2 years’ experience and have completed BAR specified training. \nYou will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of completing your registration and tuition payment\, confirming your enrollment in the class. On or before the first day\, you’ll receive another email with the Zoom link to join at 6 PM\, as the first two days of class will be held online. The final day will be in person for hands-on activities and the final exam.

DESCRIPTION:CLASS SCHEDULE\nOctober 26\, 2026 – October 28\, 2026\n6:00 pm to 10:00 pm\nMonday\, Tuesday & Wednesday\nSmog Check Repair Technicians must renew their Smog Repair License every 2 years. \nSmog Check repair technicians are required to complete 12 hours of update training every two years as part of the license renewal process.  This course will satisfy the BAR criteria for 12 hours of continuing education credit. \nThe training course is intended to provide licensees continuing education on changes in automotive technology\, new and revised inspection procedures\, and updates to the laws and regulations impacting the Smog Check Program. \nTraining topics vary by course. \n Students who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion via email from the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) \nNote: \nIf you are updating your Smog Check Inspector License you must complete the 4-hour Smog Inspector Update training on the California Automotive Resource Center (CalARC) website located under the “Training” tab.
