The Inspector license allows an individual to inspect and certify the emission control systems on vehicles subject to the Smog Check Program at licensed Test Only or Test and Repair stations in all Smog Check program areas of California.
Time: Monday – Wednesday (6PM – 10PM)
Date: April 1 – May 8th
This 72-hour course will cover the following
Engine and Emission Controls Fundamentals, the proper testing procedure of an BAR 97 Emissions Inspection System (EIS), Two-Speed Idle Test (TSI), Acceleration Simulation Mode Test (ASM), Description and explanation of the cause and creation of Exhaust Emission Hydrocarbons (HC), Carbon Monoxide (CO), and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx).
Identification of Emission Control Devices Missing, Modified, Disconnected and Defective terminology and its proper usage, Components Theory of Operation Vehicle Emission Control Information Label (VECI Label), Proper functional testing procedures as required by State Smog Check Inspection Procedure, Proper Visual Inspection and State Rules and Regulations
On-Board Inspection System (OIS) Visual and functional testing related to OBDII inspection Description, explanation and State/Federal Regulations of the following Readiness Monitors; Fuel Control Monitor Misfire Monitor Comprehensive Component Monitor Non-Continuous Monitors Monitor Drive Cycles and Enabling Criteria, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC), Data Link Connector (DLC), Federal Test Procedure (FTP) and Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
